Liposuction Surgical Body Contouring
Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure intended to remove* unwanted fat cells, in order to reduce the appearance of unsightly bulges and improve the shape and contour of the body. Liposuction procedures at Ennis Plastic Surgery can offer reliable smoothing and body contouring.
Surgical liposuction involves a surgical procedure in which the surgeon carefully and strategically removes* excess, unwanted fat deposits below the skin. Small incisions are made in the area to be treated. A narrow tube (cannula) is inserted through the incisions to extract fat from the body. The cannula is attached to a powerful vacuum and may be coupled with a laser or ultrasound modality for easier fat removal. As the fat is removed*, the body is reshaped for smoother and more even contours. Surgical scars are very small and well hidden in inconspicuous positions of the body.
Liposuction is performed with anesthesia to ensure patient comfort and safety. Depending on the extent of the liposuction to be performed, patients may receive general anesthesia, conscious sedation or a local anesthesia. After the procedure is completed, the treatment area is wrapped in an elastic bandage to reduce swelling and support the affected soft tissues. Patients should expect some discomfort, bruising and swelling after the procedure, but these symptoms will subside over several days or weeks. Most patients are able to return to work within a few days after undergoing liposuction or liposuction revision surgery.
One of the benefits of surgical liposuction is that the fat cells are removed* from the problem area. The only way that the fat cells would return is if the patient were to gain weight. Additionally, the surgeon is able to sculpt the body contours through the liposuction procedure, enhancing curves and reducing trouble spots.
