Non-Surgical Nose Job
Boca Raton, Palm Beach Florida
Now there is a way to change the appearance of the nose without undergoing surgery. A non-surgical rhinoplasty is an exciting cosmetic procedure intended to improve the contours and balance of the nose on the face. Non-surgical rhinoplasty is performed using facial fillers, adding volume and reshaping the nose. The facial fillers create definition and correct for asymmetry.
A nose job improves the appearance of one of the most prominent features of the face. Traditional rhinoplasty alters the anatomy of the nose, reducing the cartilage and bone to change the shape of the nose. Non-surgical rhinoplasty does not alter the anatomy. The surgeon uses filler to “fill in” concavities and help to contour the nasal profile.

Dermal fillers have been used in cosmetic medicine for years. Typically they are used to fill in wrinkles and plump an aging face. This is performed by adding volume to the skin. The fillers provide age restoring outcomes without changing the face appearance. The non-surgical rhinoplasty applies the same principle of added volume, placed in strategic areas of the nose. With added volume, the skilled practitioner is able to sculpt a more proportioned nose that is aesthetically pleasing.

Non-surgical vs. surgical rhinoplasty
Before the non-surgical nose job, the only way to change the look of the nose was through surgery. Surgical rhinoplasty is an effective cosmetic procedure that can yield beautiful results, if performed by a skilled plastic surgeon. However, it is invasive and requires a significant recovery period.
The non-surgical rhinoplasty is a much quicker and less invasive procedure. It is not intended for patients who are looking to reduce the size of a very large nose. This procedure cannot alter wide nostrils or shorten the nasal projection. The filler cannot reduce the length or width of the nose. A surgical rhinoplasty is indicated for individuals who are looking to change the width of the nose or length of the nose.
For individuals who are looking for more subtle changes, such as altering the nasal tip or correcting for a dorsal bump, a non-surgical approach may be an appropriate option.
There are several advantages of a non-surgical rhinoplasty over a surgical rhinoplasty, including:
- Less pain: A surgical nose job involves several weeks of healing. Because the surgical rhinoplasty involves breaking of bone and cutting cartilage, the patient must endure pain during healing. A non-surgical nose job involves several simple injections. There is no painful recovery.
- Minimal risk: All surgical procedures carry some risk of infection or complication. A non-surgical nose job does not require anesthesia nor surgical tools. This significantly reduces any risk for complications.
- Non-permanent alteration: A surgical nose job alters the shape and appearance of the nose. For patients who are hesitant about permanently* altering their appearance, the non-surgical nose job is a great option. The dermal fillers typically last 6 months without maintenance injections.
- Duration of procedure: A typical surgical rhinoplasty may take up to 4 hours to complete. However, a non-surgical rhinoplasty is typically completed in a matter of 15 minutes.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty treatment areas
There are several common complaints of nasal shape that can be improved with a non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure. These include: altering the nasal tip, modifying a low bridge, correcting for asymmetry and hiding a dorsal bump.
Dorsal augmentation can be done for individuals with a low or wide nasal bridge. By injecting filler to the area of the nasal bridge, the bridge becomes more prominent and defined. Dorsal bumps can be treated with dermal fillers. The fillers are placed above and below the bump to camouflage it. This fills in the concavities that surround the bump, making a smooth profile and hiding the bump in the filled in space. A drooping or small nasal tip can be altered by injecting filler directly into the tip in a skilled fashion. Any areas of asymmetry can be corrected by filling in concavities.
The outcomes of injection are dependent on the skill of the plastic surgeon. By having a clear understanding of facial balance, the skilled clinician can create beautifully natural results.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure
The first step is to meet with the plastic surgeon to discuss the desired outcomes and goals for the cosmetic procedure. The surgeon will perform a thorough evaluation to determine if a non-surgical rhinoplasty will sufficiently alter the nose for the desired outcomes. If the patient is looking for more dramatic results, then the surgeon may suggest a surgical nose job. If the non-surgical procedure is indicated, then the procedure is rather simple.
The surgeon will skillfully inject dermal filler into the targeted area, depending on the goals of the procedure. Most of the injectable fillers contain a local anesthetic to reduce discomfort during the procedure. The surgeon uses a variety of fillers including Juvederm. These fillers are typically used to plump facial wrinkles and have been proven to be safe overtime.
This procedure does not affect normal breathing, as the filler is injected into the skin of the nose. Patients are awake during the procedure and are able to give feedback as the surgeon injects the fillers. This procedure does not cause nasal bleeding or swelling. There is no long term scarring to the nose. There may be some redness after injection right after surgery. However, by the next day this is typically resolved. Most people are able to return to their daily activities immediately after the procedure.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is performed as an outpatient procedure. There is no need for anesthesia. This is not considered a permanent* correction, as the dermal fillers typically last 6 months. With maintenance injections, the results can be long lasting. Results are immediate. Typically only one treatment is required to correct the nose shape.
